history
Afford Translation and Interpreting offers its partners the flexibility and favourable prices of independent translators combined with the reliability of large agencies. The idea that formed the basis of Afford's operation won an award at the Budapest University of Economic Sciences
The company - today boasting ISO-qualification and excellent references - started as a university competition project. Two fifth-year economics students participated in BUESPA's "Enterprise-friendly university - Entrepreneurial students" competition with the plan of a translating agency which tests the borders of profitability in its structure. The idea of the future economists was to bring the operational costs and profit rate down to the lowest possible levels, while trying to induce price competition among the best translators. Thus it would be possible to penetrate the translation and interpretation market with prices at least 50% lower than that of the already present agencies, and ensure a workload that would form the basis of a fruitful enterprise.
The idea won first prize at BUESPA, and a non-refundable "seed fund" to cover the initial costs of setting up the enterprise was also provided.
The company was started under the name of Vice Versa Service Provider Partnership. The market and financial results of the first year were so convincing that the recent graduates decided in favour of continuing the business. In the summer of 2004, financial inverstors were found for the enterprise, which until then had been hindered in growth only due to lack of capital. Thus, on the 1st of June 2004, Afford Translation and Interpreting was founded. The company is now supported by solid capital, but still considers low prices, outstanding quality and quick and accurate customer care based on personal contact as its primary objectives.
With years of experience in the translation industry, Afford has amassed considerable specialist language knowledge and developed translation databases in the fields of social science, economics, the construction industry, IT, telecommunications, law, technology and medicine. We are constantly expanding our team of highly-qualified and reliable translators and interpreters. Those who are familiar with the terminology related to new areas or industries, as well as translators of lesser known languages, must undergo Afford’s rigorous in-house selection process before joining our team.
From September 2004, Afford Translation and Interpreting possesses an ISO 9001 certificate, which guarantees its customers a professional and reliable translation service of consistently high quality.
2008-ban az Afford Kft. a HEFOP 3.4.1 Munkahelyi képzések támogatása nevű program keretében az Nemzeti Fejlesztési Terv 2004-2006 (NFT) és az Európai Unió által társfinanszírozott projekten 4 275 000 Forint támogatást nyert el munkatársaink angol nyelvi és számítógépes továbbképzésére.
